The Story Behind the Weeder

In 2022, Dave Burton set out to adapt an old, time-honored design, a tool that worked the way a gardener actually works — low to the ground, precise, and powerful enough to get under the root without disturbing everything around it. The result was the Burton's Cape Cod Weeder: a precision made tool with a distinctive L-shaped blade that slips beneath weeds and cuts their roots below the soil surface.  Cleanly, securely, efficiently.

The L-shaped blade isn't just a design choice — it's the product of real gardening wisdom. The angled tip lets you work in tight spaces between plants, along bed edges, and in rocky or compacted soil where other tools give up. It's the kind of detail that only comes from someone who's spent thousands of hours on their knees in the garden.

Every Burton's Cape Cod Weeder is still assembled by hand, right here in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  All components are USA sourced & produced.  When you hold one of our weeders, you can feel the difference: the weight, the balance, the solid fit of a tool built to last.
